Hayward Lions Holiday Bell Ringing

The Hayward Lions Club had the Christmas spirit again this year. The club was active in “ringing the bell” for the Salvation Army. The Lions volunteered in several locations but the primary location was Angler’s Bar and Grill on Main Street in downtown Hayward. On Friday night, December 14th, the Lions “rang the bell” for the Salvation Army and collected $149.30 from people walking past Angler’s. The Hayward Lions matched dollar for dollar the money contributed thus bringing the total collected for the night to $298.60.

During the Christmas holiday season, downtown Hayward featured the theme “Lure of Lights.” Most of the businesses on Main Street had the front of their stores lighted with miniature lights in a very artistic display of lights. In front of Angler’s in the patio area on the 14th, there was competition for the best decorated snow shovel. The decorated shovels were very unique — imagine “The Grinch” displayed on a snow shovel!
