Hayward Lions Pancake Breakfast

May 24, 2014 was a bright sunny morning–the air was brisk–a great day for the Hayward Lions Club annual complimentary breakfast (pancakes, sausage, eggs, coffee, milk and juice). Tina Causey (chairperson for event) estimated the Lions served over 300 people at the breakfast between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. at the Hayward Community Veterans Center.

The last couple of years people attending the breakfast were entertained by pianist Don Jacobson. Don is a World War II veteran (age 95). He has attended national musical competitions sponsored by the Veterans Administration (by invitation only) and won two gold metals, two silver metals and blue ribbons. Don enjoys playing the “old time classics” in a rag time fashion. Don really enjoys entertaining the breakfast crowd at no charge to the Lions or the public attending the event. He has recorded three CDs that are available locally.
