Lions District 27E-1 Donates To Civil Air Patrol

The Hayward Lions held their regular club meeting on Thursday, June 5, (they meet the first and third Thursdays) at Coop’s Pizza. Chuck Aubart presented a $100 check on behalf of Lions District 27E-1 to Allen Foekler. Mr. Foekler is the Past Commander of the Civil Air Patrols Wild Rivers Composite Squadron. Lions District 27E-1 held a contest for organizations to submit their plans for youth projects in their local communities. Civil Air Patrols Wild Rivers Composite Squadron won the prize ($100 check).

The local Civil Air Patrol has three primary missions. They are: (1) cadet programs, (2) aerospace education and (3) emergency services. During their weekly meetings the cadets focus on the following core values: integrity, volunteer service, excellence and respect. The cadet programs are planned and executed in four categories: (1) leadership, (2) aerospace, (3) fitness and (4) character development. They are involved in the following community service projects: (1) Wreaths Across America, (2) parking cars at the July 4 fireworks celebration in Hayward, (3) assisting with EAA’s Young Eagles flights in Hayward each summer, (4) providing free curriculum for aerospace education classes and (5) career exploration field trips for area schools.
