Lions Plan Complimentary Breakfast May 24

It has become a tradition for the Hayward Lions Club to have a pancake breakfast the Saturday prior to Memorial Day. By that time–generally–the weather has turned warmer–people are ready to get out of the cabin and treat themselves to a really good breakfast. Hopefully this year will not be an exception! For many years, the Lions sold tickets to their annual pancake breakfast. About three years ago when Bill Weldon was the chairperson for the event, he decided to make the breakfast a free event (complimentary). It was such a hit with the community the present chairperson Tina Causey has continued the tradition.

The Hayward Lions will host their annual Memorial Day Pancake Breakfast this year as a community service project. Over the years the Hayward community has given the Lions a tremendous amount of support–this is the Hayward Lions way of saying Thank You! The pancake breakfast will be served at the Veterans Community Center on Saturday, May 24, 2014 from 7:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. The Hayward Lions will have displays and information about our local, state and international clubs. There will be a raffle every half hour.

For the past several years, Don Jacobson has favored us with his piano renditions of ragtime old time favorites. We understand Don has had some health problems this past winter. We are hoping he will be able to join us again this year. Please remember–this is a complimentary breakfast–the Hayward Lions Club way of saying “thank you” to the community. The menu will be: pancakes, sausages, scrambled eggs, coffee, tea, milk. Donations will be accepted at the door.
