Lions Ring Bell For Salvation Army

Ho! Ho! Ho! The Hayward Lions Club helped Santa and the local Salvation Army raise funds again this year. It has become an annual tradition for the Hayward Lions to “ring the bell” for the Salvation Army. December 21st the Lions collected money for the Salvation Army in front of Angler’s Bar and Grill. The public contributed about $200 to the kettle. The Lions doubled the amount contributed by the public–thus the Salvation Army netted $600. Lions club members donated their time again this year by ringing the bell for the Salvation Army in other locations during the Christmas season.

During the Christmas holiday season, downtown Hayward featured again this year the “Lure of Lights” theme. Most of the businesses on Main Street had the front of their stores lighted with miniature lights in a very artistic display of lights. Many tourists as well as locals enjoyed viewing the display of lights. It was quite interesting to watch the lights pulsating to the beat of the music.
