Lions Serve Community Dinner October 28, 2015

It was a cold–blustery–evening on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 (36 degrees). Sixty-nine hearty souls came to the First Lutheran Church in Hayward for the weekly Wednesday evening meal. Supper was served starting at 5:00 p.m. For over 17 years, it has been the tradition to have supper served to the Hayward community every Wednesday evening (except during some of the summer months). The Wednesday suppers have even been served when a Wednesday happened to fall on a holiday. Different community service organizations take turns serving/cooking the meal.

The meal this evening was: spaghetti with meat sauce (Mary Wright has a soon to be world famous recipe), cole slaw, garlic bread, coffee, tea, milk, water and many different kinds of dessert. Northern Lakes Coop donated many loaves of bread for the guests to take home. Coop’s Pizza donated all of the desserts–and they were mighty good!

Those helping from the Hayward Lions Club were: Nancy Grothe, Nancy Nelson, Mary Wright, Nels Beckman, Jeff Hubbard, Larry Gilmer, Liz Korpal, Tim Donovan and John Moreland.
