35 years of Cross Country Skiing Fun!
PRE- BIRKIE Skiers!
The Hayward Lions are proud to present our 35th Lion’s Pre-Birkie.
9:30 Classic Start
10:00 Skate Start
This Lions Club Fundraiser and FUN race has no equal when it comes to preparing one mentally and physically for the American Birkebeiner. In other words, once you have completed the Pre-Birkie you will have the confidence to take on the mother of all XC marathon races, the American Birkebeiner.
And, if 26 Kms of those beautiful hills were not enough, …back by popular demand are the 42Km skate/classic races.
There are four food stations on the 26km course and six on the 42km course, which are manned by local youth groups who are eager to serve you along your way to the finish at OO. There you’ll find refreshments and our famous doughnuts.
Every skier will receive a special Pre-Birkie sweatshirt and all skiers who pre-register prior to Jan 15 will get their sweatshirt at the spaghetti feed/late registration or on race day late registration at the VFW.
Come and enjoy the day with the Hayward Lions at our Pre-Birkie the “Best Birkie prep race in the Midwest”

Race Proceeds Fund Worthwhile Projects
The Hayward Lions Club members would like to thank all of you who have skied with us in the past and new skiers as well. The funds raised from this race go to many worthwhile local and international service projects.
Our club supports local projects such as the Hayward Food Shelf, the Anti-Drug Quest program, Habitat for Humanity, Little League and the Boy Scouts, as well as helping individuals who are in extreme need of assistance. We also support international projects such as the Journey for Sight and Leader Dog Program.
Not only do the proceeds go to these projects, but they have also been used to help the Club build a multi-use log cabin/warming house at the Birkie trailhead at Fish Hatchery Road, the new Hayward Library and the Eric Lowery Memorial Skate Park.
We call your attention to our sponsors who, year-after-year, support our Lions Club Pre-Birkie enabling the Lions to fulfill their humanitarian missions. Please thank them and support them with your patronage!
