Sawyer County Fair 2015

This year Sawyer County celebrated the 108th Sawyer County Fair. The dates of the fair this year were August 13th to the 16th. The weather was very hot! The weather might have been a factor in the rather low attendance. However, the attendance at state fairs in the area were also down about one-half from the attendance of last year. Attendance at the Sawyer County Fair this year was about one-half the attendance of the last several years.

The Hayward Lions Club had a food booth again this year. The Vet Center had the beer concession. The Lions served breakfast each morning of the fair. For those working at the fair and the early attendees, the smell of breakfast cooking was very welcome. The total breakfasts served were about 400. The breakfast menu was: scrambled eggs, sausage, pancakes, milk, coffee, tea and juice. The rest of the day the Lions served the following: hot dogs, hamburgers, brats, corn on the cob, soda, coffee and water. Corn on the cob was a favorite again this year. The Lions sold about 75 doz. ears. People enjoyed the brats (about 300 lbs.), hamburgers (about 700 burgers) and hot dogs (about 300 dogs).

Liz Korpal was chairperson. Nancy and Gary Nelson were co-chairs.
