Lions Serve Community Dinner

The Hayward Lions Club served about 70 meals at the Grace Lutheran Church on the evening of April 28, 2014. The Community Dinners are open to the community–anyone wanting an evening meal need only show up at the proper church between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Most people desiring a meal gather a little prior to 5:00 p.m. and are ready to be served as soon as the clock strikes five! Every week all year long–Grace Lutheran Church serves an evening meal on Monday and the First Lutheran Church serves the evening meal on Wednesday. For those wishing more information contact either Grace Lutheran Church (10237 Greenwood Lane)(715-934-2772) or First Lutheran Church (10680 N. Main Street)(715-634-2141).

The Lions club has served four evening meals this winter on Monday evenings at the Grace Lutheran Church. They have also served four evening meals this winter at the First Lutheran Church on Wednesdays. People in the community are aware of the fund raising activities of the Hayward Lions–this type of activity (serving meals to the public) gives the Lions a chance to give back to the community. The churches involved are gracious enough to provide the physical facilities and the Lions provide, cook and serve the food. On April 28th, the Lions served a Swedish meatball dinner. The side items included: mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, green beans and cole slaw. The desert table looked like the Ritz Hotel was serving. There were numerous kinds of cookies, cakes, brownies and other pastries. Coffee and tea were provided to those wishing a hot drink to go along with their meal.
